Zippy’s and the American Diabetes Association continue to partner with Kaiser Permanente to bring you healthier meal options for people with prediabetes, diabetes, or those interested in living healthier. Regular physical activity and healthier food choices are an important part of maintaining your health. When eating out we want you to remember these important tips:
- 1. Plan ahead.
- 2. Think about portions.
- 3. Choose meats that are lower in saturated and trans fat.
- 4. Add fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
- 5. Choose your beverages carefully. Opt for water instead of sugar-sweetened beverages.
Do you have prediabetes or diabetes?
Not everyone with prediabetes or diabetes [type 1 or type 2] has the same meal plan or nutritional goals. For many, cutting carbohydrates and calories is most important. The ADA and Kaiser Permanente encourages you to work with your health care team to identify you individualized goals.
